Google said Google Meet’s peak daily usage grew 30x from January 2020 to April 2020.
As of April 2020, Google Meet was hosting 3 billion minutes of video meetings per day.
Google said Meet was adding roughly 3 million new users per day in April 2020.
Google Meet’s daily meeting participants surpassed 100 million in April 2020.
Google said Google Meet and Google Duo together hosted more than 1 trillion minutes of video calls globally in 2020.
Free personal Google Meet accounts currently support up to 100 participants per meeting.
On personal accounts, one-on-one meetings can last up to 24 hours, while meetings with 3 or more participants can last up to 60 minutes.
For Google Workspace plans, current participant caps range from 100 on Business Starter to 1,000 on Enterprise Plus and Enterprise Essentials Plus.
After 500 participants, the next 500 on eligible 1,000-person plans join as view-only attendees.
Enterprise Standard supports live streams for up to 10,000 viewers, while Enterprise Plus and Enterprise Essentials Plus support up to 100,000 viewers.
Cross-domain live streaming can include up to 50 trusted Workspace sub-domains.
Google Meet live captions are currently listed in 88 languages.
Google Meet translated captions are currently listed in 69 languages.
Speech Translation in Google Meet is currently available between English and 5 languages: French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Google said more than 50 million attendees benefited from AI-powered meeting notes in Google Meet in June 2025 alone.
Alphabet said Google Workspace delivers more than 2 billion AI assists per month.
Google said in October 2022 that Google Workspace was used by more than 8 million businesses and organizations worldwide.
Google Workspace Business Starter, Business Standard, and Business Plus plans can be purchased for a maximum of 300 users, while Enterprise plans have no minimum or maximum user limit.

What these Google Meet statistics show
Google Meet’s official numbers show two different stories at once. First, the platform saw massive pandemic-era adoption, with usage multiplying quickly and daily meeting participation passing the 100 million mark in 2020. Second, the product has increasingly become part of a broader Google Workspace collaboration stack, where scale is now expressed through enterprise limits, AI features, live streaming capacity, and multilingual accessibility.
The current product positioning is especially clear in participant limits, viewer limits, captions, and AI assistance. Google is not publishing frequent standalone monthly active user updates for Meet, but it is publishing clear signals that Meet is being developed as an enterprise-grade meetings product inside Workspace, with larger rooms, deeper transcription and note-taking, wider language support, and tighter connections to Google’s AI tools.
