What current work-pattern data shows
Online meeting software is no longer just a communications category. It now sits inside a much broader workflow stack that includes chat, AI note-taking, scheduling, summaries, recordings, and automation. Microsoft’s 2025 work data shows that meetings are part of a larger load problem: employees are juggling heavy message volume, frequent interruptions, and more evening activity than before.
That helps explain why vendors are pushing AI features so aggressively. Automatic meeting notes, summaries, catch-up tools, translation, and meeting analytics are not just add-ons anymore. They are becoming core product features because buyers increasingly want software that reduces the cost of meetings, not just software that hosts them.

What these online meeting software statistics show
The sector is still growing, but it is also maturing. Market growth remains solid, enterprise buyers still dominate spending, and hybrid work continues to support demand for both software subscriptions and meeting-room hardware. At the same time, vendors are trying to differentiate less on basic video quality and more on workflow value.
The most important product trend is AI. Meeting summaries, transcription, translation, action items, and catch-up features are moving from premium extras to standard expectations. The strongest platforms are increasingly the ones that can connect meetings with chat, docs, phone, scheduling, and post-meeting execution.
